Using Deoxys Normal in a Playthrough
Deoxys is a pure Psychic Mythical Pokemon whose four Formes radically redistribute the same species' stats and therefore create completely different battle roles. Normal Forme has 150 Attack, Special Attack, and Speed but only 50 in both defenses; Attack Forme pushes both offenses to 180 while dropping both defenses to an almost nonexistent 20; Defense Forme instead reaches 160 Defense and Special Defense with much lower offenses and base 90 Speed; Speed Forme reaches an extraordinary base 180 Speed with 90 defenses and 95 offenses. Pressure is shared across the forms, while Psycho Boost, Recover on relevant formes, Superpower, Extreme Speed, elemental coverage, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Taunt, screens, and other tools let the player tailor Deoxys to offense, defense, or support. In the original Generation III games the available form depended on the game cartridge—Normal in Ruby/Sapphire, Attack in FireRed, Defense in LeafGreen, and Speed in Emerald—while later games allow deliberate form changes through special meteorites. For ordinary story play, Attack Forme is the most explosive but least forgiving, Defense Forme the safest, Speed Forme the easiest to use for support or revenge killing, and Normal Forme a powerful compromise that is often overshadowed by the more specialized alternatives.
Deoxys Normal in Competitive Pokémon
Deoxys's four Formes created four distinct competitive archetypes almost immediately. Attack Forme became one of ADV Ubers' most extreme wallbreakers and cleaners, combining base 180 offenses with 150 Speed, Superpower, Shadow Ball, Extreme Speed, and special coverage at the cost of defenses so low that nearly any serious hit can remove it. Defense Forme took the opposite role, using 160 defenses, Recover, Spikes, Knock Off, Taunt, status, and Pressure to become a durable support Pokemon and hazard setter, while Speed Forme exploited base 180 Speed to use Taunt, Spikes or Stealth Rock, screens, and disruption before almost anything could act. Normal Forme is powerful in isolation with 150 offenses and Speed but has repeatedly been competitively outclassed by Attack Forme's greater damage or Speed Forme's superior utility. Across generations the exact tiers changed, but Deoxys remains one of the clearest examples of form change functioning as genuine strategic specialization rather than cosmetic variation.
Deoxys Normal in Nuzlockes
Deoxys can be extraordinarily powerful in a Nuzlocke, but which Forme is chosen matters more for survival than with almost any other Pokemon. Attack Forme can erase opponents before they move but has only base 20 defenses, meaning priority, unexpected Choice Scarf users, or any surviving attack can immediately end the run. Defense Forme provides the greatest margin for error through 160 defenses and Recover, while Speed Forme's base 180 Speed allows support, screens, Taunt, hazards, or direct attacks before nearly every ordinary opponent. Normal Forme still has excellent speed and offense but only base 50 defenses, so it remains much more fragile than its legendary status suggests. Because Deoxys is usually event, postgame, or special-story content rather than an ordinary encounter, its Nuzlocke relevance depends heavily on ruleset and game, but Defense or Speed Forme are generally much safer permadeath choices than Attack Forme.

Deoxys Normal Biology and Behavior
Deoxys is an extraterrestrial Pokemon created when the DNA of a virus from space underwent a sudden mutation after exposure to a laser beam, with the purple crystal in its chest functioning as a brain-like organ. It is highly intelligent, possesses powerful psychokinesis, and can fire concentrated lasers directly from that crystal. Its cellular structure is extraordinarily plastic: Deoxys can rearrange its body into Normal, Attack, Defense, or Speed Forme according to the situation, and an aurora appears during form changes; in several depictions those auroral electromagnetic signals are also used for communication between individuals. Deoxys has demonstrated the ability to regenerate lost body parts and even create duplicates of itself in some canon depictions, making injury far less permanent than it is for most living Pokemon. It has a persistent territorial conflict with Rayquaza, which treats the extraterrestrial arrival as an invasion of the upper atmosphere; in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Deoxys literally approaches the planet inside the Grand Meteor Delta before confronting Rayquaza beyond the atmosphere.

Deoxys Normal Size Comparison: BETA
Deoxys Normal is listed at 5' 7" (1.7 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
