Dodrio Dodrio Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Dodrio in a Playthrough
The Doduo line is a fast, hard-hitting Normal/Flying line whose battle style is much more offensive than defensive. Dodrio combines 110 Attack and 100 Speed with strong Normal and Flying STAB such as Return, Tri Attack, Drill Peck, or later Brave Bird depending on generation, allowing it to eliminate many opponents before they attack. Its coverage is less extensive than some other physical attackers and its defenses are mediocre, so it generally performs best by entering battle safely and securing immediate damage rather than trading hits. In Kanto, community comparisons consistently place Dodrio above Pidgeot and Fearow in pure offensive performance, although it becomes available later than those earlier-route alternatives.
Dodrio in Competitive Pokémon
Dodrio has historically functioned as an aggressive physical wallbreaker built around its combination of high Attack, strong Normal/Flying STAB, and good Speed. Earlier Smogon analyses used Choice Band to maximize immediate damage, while later generations added options such as Swords Dance and stronger Flying moves that let Dodrio break defensive teams or clean weakened opponents. Its major limitation is frailty: Dodrio has difficulty switching directly into attacks and is vulnerable to entry hazards and faster revenge killers, so competitive sets often depend on pivots or double switches to bring it onto the field safely. Within lower tiers, however, its raw offensive statistics have repeatedly made it considerably more threatening than many other early-generation Normal/Flying Pokemon.
Dodrio in Nuzlockes
Dodrio is a strong Nuzlocke attacker when available because its Speed and Attack let it defeat many targets without taking retaliatory damage. FireRed and LeafGreen community analyses commonly place it in the upper tiers and describe it as the strongest offensive Normal/Flying option in Kanto, with Drill Peck and strong Normal STAB giving it reliable neutral damage. Unlike bulkier Pokemon, however, Dodrio offers relatively little defensive safety and can be lost quickly if it fails to secure a knockout or encounters unexpected Rock-, Electric-, or Ice-type coverage. It is therefore particularly effective in planned boss fights where its Speed thresholds and damage ranges are known.

If one of the heads gets to eat, the others will be satisfied, too, and they will stop squabbling.
An enemy that takes its eyes off any of the three heads--even for a second--will get pecked severely.

Apparently, the heads aren’t the only parts of the body that DODRIO has three of. It has three sets of hearts and lungs as well, so it is capable of running long distances without rest.

Dodrio Biology and Behavior
Dodrio has three independently functioning brains and distinct head personalities traditionally associated with joy, sorrow, and anger. The three heads pool information to formulate complex plans, although excessive analysis can occasionally leave the Pokemon unable to act. The heads also quarrel over food, with the strongest head and thickest neck tending to assume primary control of the body, while at least one head normally remains alert as the others sleep. Dodrio additionally possesses three sets of hearts and lungs, allowing efficient circulation and exceptional endurance during long-distance running.

Dodrio Size Comparison: BETA
Dodrio is listed at 5' 11" (1.8 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Dodrio currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
