Magnemite Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Magnemite in a Playthrough
The Magnemite line is a powerful special Electric line that gains exceptional defensive value from its Electric/Steel typing from Generation II onward. Magneton already combines strong Special Attack with numerous resistances and useful Electric STAB, while Magnezone adds still greater Special Attack and physical Defense and can use moves such as Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, and Volt Switch depending on the game. The major defensive danger is a quadruple weakness to Ground, along with Fire and Fighting weaknesses, while low Speed means it cannot always remove those threats before being attacked. Evolution availability is also game-dependent: Magneton could originally evolve into Magnezone only in special magnetic areas, leaving Magnezone unobtainable through normal evolution in games such as HeartGold and SoulSilver, although later generations added Thunder Stone evolution.
Magnemite in Competitive Pokémon
Magneton and Magnezone have a highly distinctive competitive niche through Magnet Pull, which prevents opposing Steel-types from switching and allows the line to remove specific defensive targets. Magnezone has repeatedly been used to trap Pokemon such as Skarmory and other influential Steel-types, creating openings for teammates that would otherwise struggle against them. Its high Special Attack, Electric/Steel STAB, defensive resistances, and access to Volt Switch also let it function as a powerful pivot even outside dedicated trapping sequences. Magneton can perform a similar job and has sometimes retained separate value through its greater Speed or Eviolite compatibility, although Magnezone is generally bulkier and stronger.
Magnemite in Nuzlockes
The Magnemite line is exceptionally useful in many Nuzlockes because Electric/Steel provides a large collection of resistances while its high Special Attack allows it to defeat Water- and Flying-types efficiently. Community HGSS evaluations place Magneton among the strongest encounters in the game even though Magnezone cannot normally be evolved there, demonstrating that the middle stage is already strong enough to function as a long-term team member. Platinum community analysis similarly rates Magnezone extremely highly, with the quadruple Ground weakness and low Speed identified as its major vulnerabilities. Careful knowledge of opposing Ground coverage is therefore essential, but in safe matchups the line combines offensive pressure and defensive reliability unusually well.

Uses anti-gravity to stay suspended. Appears without warning and uses THUNDER WAVE and similar moves.
It is born with the ability to defy gravity. It floats in air on powerful electromagnetic waves.
It is attracted by electromagnetic waves. It may approach trainers if they are using their POKéGEAR.
The units at the sides of its body generate antigravity energy to keep it aloft in the air.
The electricity emitted by the units on each side of its body cause it to become a strong magnet.
MAGNEMITE attaches itself to power lines to feed on electricity. If your house has a power outage, check your circuit breakers. You may find a large number of this POKéMON clinging to the breaker box.
MAGNEMITE floats in the air by emitting electromagnetic waves from the units at its sides. These waves block gravity. This POKéMON becomes incapable of flight if its internal electrical supply is depleted.
The units at its sides are extremely powerful magnets. They generate enough magnetism to draw in iron objects from over 300 feet away.
It moves while constantly hovering. It discharges THUNDER WAVE and so on from the units at its sides.

The faster the units at its sides rotate, the greater the magnetic force they generate.

The electromagnetic waves emitted by the units at the sides of its head expel antigravity, which allows it to float.

It’s frequently the cause of power outages, which is why some power plants send out electrical signals that it can’t stand.

They gather in places where electricity is available. They can be found clinging to the steel towers used to support power lines.
It sends out electromagnetic waves, which let it float through the air. Touching it while it’s eating electricity will give you a full-body shock.
Perhaps because electrical lines are often buried these days, the number of Magnemite attacks on power plants has increased.
It is hatched with the ability to defy gravity. It floats while emitting powerful electromagnetic waves.
At times, Magnemite runs out of electricity and ends up on the ground. If you give batteries to a grounded Magnemite, it’ll start moving again.
It subsists on electricity. As Magnemite flies, it emits electromagnetic waves from the units on each side of its body.
A bizarre Pokémon with but a single eye embedded in an iron sphere. I suspect this creature levitates due to the magnetism it emits from its arms, which resemble horseshoe-shaped magnets.

Magnemite Biology and Behavior
Magnemite generates electromagnetic fields with the magnets on its body, using them to overcome gravity and float through the air. Its primary nourishment is electrical current, explaining its tendency to gather around power plants and other locations rich in electricity or strong magnetic fields. Its electromagnetic activity can interfere with electrical equipment, and the strength of its magnetic field increases as its magnetic units rotate faster. Despite its mechanical appearance, the animated series has explicitly depicted Magnemite as possessing emotions, needing nourishment, and reproducing.

Magnemite Size Comparison: BETA
Magnemite is listed at 1' 0" (0.3 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Magnemite currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
