Numel Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Numel in a Playthrough
Numel evolves into Camerupt at level 33, producing a Fire/Ground attacker whose mixed offensive stats and Electric immunity make it much more useful than its very low Speed initially suggests. Camerupt has base 100 Attack and 105 Special Attack, and Generation III's type-based damage system actually suits that split well because Fire attacks are special while Ground attacks are physical, allowing both STAB types to use a strong offensive stat from the moment Camerupt is introduced. Fire Blast or Flamethrower and Earthquake provide excellent complementary coverage, while later Earth Power, Lava Plume, Stealth Rock, Rock coverage, and other options expand its special and support roles. The defensive typing gives an Electric immunity and useful Fire, Poison, Bug, and Steel resistances, but Water attacks deal quadruple damage and Ground attacks are also super effective, making some matchups catastrophically unsafe. Mega Camerupt becomes a very slow but enormously powerful tank with base 145 Special Attack, improved defenses, and Sheer Force, making its Fire- and Ground-type special attacks especially destructive and giving it a natural home on Trick Room teams.
Numel in Competitive Pokémon
Camerupt has repeatedly found specialized competitive niches because Fire/Ground typing lets it punish Electric-types in ways many other Ground Pokemon cannot. In ADV, specially defensive Camerupt could check major Electric threats such as Raikou while threatening Steel-types with Earthquake or Fire STAB, giving it a genuine if narrow OU and UU role despite poor Speed and common Water weakness. Later generations added Solid Rock, Stealth Rock, Lava Plume, and Earth Power, allowing standard Camerupt to function as a bulky Electric answer, wallbreaker, or hazard setter in lower tiers. Mega Camerupt raises Special Attack to 145, improves both defenses, and gains Sheer Force, which powers moves such as Fire Blast and Earth Power while its base 20 Speed makes it an excellent attacker under Trick Room. Its problems are equally pronounced: a quadruple Water weakness, Ground weakness, lack of reliable recovery, and extreme slowness mean Camerupt must be positioned carefully rather than switched casually into anything except the threats it is specifically designed to punish.
Numel in Nuzlockes
Camerupt can be a strong Nuzlocke Pokemon because its Electric immunity and mixed Fire/Ground offense provide clear answers to many Electric-, Steel-, Poison-, Fire-, and Rock-related matchups. Numel is gentle statistically as well as biologically and remains slow before evolving at level 33, so training it safely often requires avoiding Water and Ground attacks rather than trusting its mixed offenses to solve every encounter. The quadruple Water weakness is the defining danger for the entire family once Ground typing is present, and even relatively weak Water coverage can be fatal; Ground attacks are another major concern because Camerupt almost always moves after the opponent. Solid Rock can soften super-effective damage in generations where available, but it does not make powerful Water attacks safe, while Magma Armor provides the smaller but reliable benefit of preventing freezing. Mega Camerupt's improved defenses and enormous special power are excellent for known matchups, yet the further drop in Speed makes blind use even less advisable outside carefully controlled battles.

Numel Biology and Behavior
Numel carries a reservoir of magma approaching 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, or roughly 1,200 degrees Celsius, inside the hump on its back. That magma is consumed whenever Numel uses Fire-type attacks, causing the hump to shrink temporarily until the internal supply is replenished. The species is famously dull-witted and may fail to notice that it has been struck, yet it is physically strong and has worked alongside humans for generations carrying loads of up to about 220 pounds, or 100 kilograms, across difficult terrain. Numel has a gentle disposition and rarely attacks without provocation, but hunger makes it extremely uncomfortable and becoming soaked with water causes its normally steady movement to slow dramatically. Wild populations inhabit volcanic mountains, where abundant geothermal heat suits an animal whose body literally carries molten rock.

Numel Size Comparison: BETA
Numel is listed at 2' 4" (0.7 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Numel currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
