Using Latias in a Playthrough
Latias is the more defensively oriented member of the Eon duo, with base 110 Speed, 110 Special Attack, 130 Special Defense, good overall bulk, and Levitate for a complete Ground immunity. Dragon/Psychic provides useful resistances to Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Fighting, and Psychic, while Recover, Calm Mind, Psychic or Mist Ball, Dragon attacks, healing support, and broad coverage make Latias both durable and flexible. Generation III's Dragon attacks are special, which naturally fits its Special Attack, while the original Soul Dew dramatically amplifies Special Attack and Special Defense in formats where the old effect is active and makes the Eon twins far stronger than their base stats imply. From Generation VI, Fairy joins Ice, Dragon, Bug, Ghost, and Dark as a weakness, but Latias remains extremely useful because Speed, recovery, resistances, and Levitate let it enter many battles safely. Mega Latias keeps Dragon/Psychic and Levitate while raising Defense to 120, Special Attack to 140, and Special Defense to 150, creating an exceptionally durable Calm Mind or support Pokemon that can still threaten meaningful damage.
Latias in Competitive Pokémon
Latias was an ADV Uber and one of the tier's premier answers to Kyogre and Groudon, using Levitate, Recover, Calm Mind, excellent special bulk, and the original Soul Dew's 1.5x Special Attack and Special Defense boosts. Compared with Latios, Latias trades some immediate offensive power for greater Defense and Special Defense, which made it particularly valuable as a long-term weather-legend check that could repeatedly recover and remain useful throughout a battle. In later generations where the Eon twins could participate in standard tiers under changed item rules, Latias repeatedly found high-level niches as a fast defensive pivot, Defog user, Healing Wish supporter, Calm Mind sweeper, or Choice user. Mega Latias became a notable OU threat in Generation VII, where 80/120/150 defenses, base 110 Speed, Calm Mind, Roost or Recover, and excellent coverage let it become exceptionally difficult to wear down. Its recurring limitations are Pursuit or Dark pressure in older formats, weaknesses to Ice, Dragon, Ghost, Bug, Dark, and later Fairy, and competition with Latios when raw damage matters more than longevity.
Latias in Nuzlockes
Latias is an exceptionally forgiving Nuzlocke legendary because good mixed bulk, base 130 Special Defense, Recover, and Levitate give it far more safe switching opportunities than most fast attackers. A Ground immunity plus resistances to several common elemental types can create completely safe entry points when opposing movesets are known. The main dangers are strong Ice, Dragon, Ghost, Dark, Bug, and later Fairy attacks, especially physical ones that target Latias's lower Defense. Mega Latias improves the physical side substantially and can make Calm Mind or recovery-based strategies extremely reliable, but setup should still be reserved for opponents without dangerous critical-hit or super-effective coverage. Availability is often late or version-dependent, but whenever Latias is legitimately obtainable during a run it provides one of the best combinations of speed, recovery, and defensive safety in Hoenn.

Latias Biology and Behavior
Latias is an extremely intelligent, gentle aerial Pokemon capable of understanding human speech and communicating telepathically while normally avoiding direct contact with people. Its downy, glass-like feathers refract light around the body, allowing Latias to become invisible or alter its appearance; several canon depictions even show it disguising itself as a human girl. It reacts strongly to hostility, ruffling its feathers and crying loudly when threatened, but generally prefers to disappear rather than fight and may live in small herds near water. Latias can also share visual information with others in some depictions, allowing another being to see what Latios is seeing. Mega Latias greatly increases flight performance: it is described as capable of reaching around Mach 4 and is smaller and more agile than Mega Latios, allowing exceptionally sharp turns at extreme speed.

Latias Size Comparison: BETA
Latias is listed at 4' 7" (1.4 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Latias currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
