Regice Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Regice in a Playthrough
Regice is the special-defense counterpart of the original legendary giants, with base 200 Special Defense, base 100 Defense, and base 100 Special Attack. Ice Beam or Blizzard uses that respectable Special Attack well, while Thunderbolt or Thunder provides excellent coverage against Water-types and creates the famous Ice-plus-Electric combination that very few targets resist comfortably. Clear Body prevents hostile stat drops, while later Ice Body can restore HP during hail or snow in games and formats where its healing effect applies. The weakness is pure Ice typing: Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel all hit super effectively, and Ice supplies almost no defensive resistances beyond resisting itself. Regice therefore performs much better as a special sponge that threatens meaningful damage than as an all-purpose wall, especially because its base 50 Speed forces it to take a hit before attacking.
Regice in Competitive Pokémon
Regice was a genuine ADV OU Pokemon and occupied a rare niche as a special wall that also exerted real offensive pressure. Base 200 Special Defense let it pivot into many special attackers, while base 100 Special Attack and Ice Beam plus Electric coverage forced opponents such as Zapdos, Celebi, Skarmory, Starmie, and Water-types to respect its damage rather than treating it as passive. Explosion gave ADV Regice an especially valuable endgame option: after drawing in opposing special walls such as Blissey or Snorlax, it could sacrifice itself to remove or heavily damage them and open the field for a teammate. Later generations made pure Ice typing and hazard weakness more punishing, and stronger special walls with better recovery or typing pushed Regice toward lower tiers despite the same spectacular Special Defense. Its ADV history remains important because it demonstrates that Regice was not merely a novelty with one enormous number—it was an actual OU special pivot with an offensive edge.
Regice in Nuzlockes
Regice can be exceptionally safe against known special attackers because base 200 Special Defense is so high that even many neutral special moves become manageable. Clear Body protects its stats, while Ice Beam provides strong and accurate offense against Dragons, Flying-types, Grass-types, and Ground-types. The danger is physical coverage and typing: Fighting, Rock, Fire, and Steel attacks can overwhelm Regice quickly, and pure Ice does little to provide safe resistance-based switching. Its base 50 Speed means it usually cannot escape a bad matchup by attacking first, so the player should use Regice as a targeted special sponge rather than simply sending it into anything special-looking. When the opponent's coverage is known, few Hoenn Pokemon can absorb special damage as reliably.

Regice Biology and Behavior
Regice is composed of solid ice formed during an ancient ice age, and the material is so deeply frozen that even immersion in molten magma cannot melt its body. It constantly surrounds itself with air at roughly minus 328 degrees Fahrenheit, or minus 200 degrees Celsius, cold enough to freeze nearby living creatures simply by proximity. Pokédex research identifies the body material with Antarctic or South Pole ice and suggests that Regice may have slept inside a glacier for thousands of years before being discovered. Legend says Regigigas created it from ice of the ice age, after which ancient people worshipped and later sealed it away out of fear. Regice is therefore less a creature wearing ice armor than an animate remnant of a prehistoric glacial environment whose body still maintains temperatures far beyond ordinary natural cold.

Regice Size Comparison: BETA
Regice is listed at 5' 11" (1.8 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
