Regieleki Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Regieleki in a Playthrough

Regieleki is a late Crown Tundra Legendary encountered in the Split-Decision Ruins after the player has captured Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, and the save file must choose between encountering Regieleki or Regidrago there. Its defining statistic is base 200 Speed, the highest base Speed of any Pokémon, allowing it to move first against virtually every unboosted opponent without needing a Choice Scarf. Both Attack and Special Attack are base 100, but the defensive profile is extremely fragile at 80 HP, 50 Defense, and 50 Special Defense, so Regieleki is built to create pressure before the opponent can retaliate rather than absorb hits. Transistor strengthens Electric attacks; in Generation VIII it multiplied the relevant attacking stat by 1.5, while Generation IX reduced the multiplier to roughly 1.3. Thunderbolt and Volt Switch provide reliable special offense and momentum, Rapid Spin removes entry hazards while raising Speed, and Thunder Cage traps the target while dealing residual damage for several turns. The severe limitation is coverage: pure Electric typing has only one weakness, Ground, but Ground-types are completely immune to Electric attacks and Regieleki has historically had very few strong ways to punish them without generation-specific mechanics such as Terastallization. For normal play, its extreme Speed makes it excellent at finishing weakened opponents and avoiding damage, but the player should switch rather than leave it exposed when a Ground move or strong neutral attack is expected.

Regieleki in Competitive Pokémon

Regieleki's competitive history is defined by the tension between the highest base Speed in the series and one of the narrowest offensive movepools. In Sword/Shield it finished in UU, where Transistor's original 1.5× Electric boost made Thunderbolt and Volt Switch threatening while base 200 Speed let it serve as a nearly guaranteed Rapid Spin user, screen setter, or revenge killer. Its ceiling in higher tiers was capped by Ground-types, because opponents such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, or specially bulky Ground-types could invalidate most Electric-only sets and force Regieleki out. Scarlet/Violet temporarily removed that structural weakness: Terastallization gave Regieleki access to coverage through Tera Blast, allowing it to turn into types such as Ice and directly eliminate many Ground-type answers. The result was immediate tiering action—Regieleki was quickbanned from SV OU on May 31, 2023, only one day after Pokémon HOME compatibility expanded the metagame. Generation IX had already nerfed Transistor from a 1.5× to roughly a 1.3× attacking-stat multiplier, but that reduction was not enough to make Tera Blast coverage manageable. In 2026, after Tera Blast itself was banned from SV OU, the council unbanned Regieleki because its ordinary movepool once again left Ground-types as robust counterplay; its usage subsequently fell and its current Smogon tier is RU. That unusual trajectory makes Regieleki a good example of a Pokémon whose tier changed less because its own stats were altered than because a universal generation mechanic temporarily erased the single weakness that had kept it balanced.

Regieleki in Nuzlockes

Regieleki offers enormous Nuzlocke safety when Speed is the deciding factor because base 200 Speed means it almost never has to take a normal unboosted attack before moving. Thunderbolt is perfectly accurate and strong enough for routine Electric damage, while Volt Switch lets Regieleki attack and immediately pivot into a safer teammate after confirming the matchup. The problem is survivability if anything goes wrong: 80 HP with base 50 in both defenses gives little margin against strong neutral hits, priority attacks, or unexpected coverage. Ground-type opponents are especially dangerous because they are immune to Electric STAB and can threaten super-effective damage in return, so blindly clicking Volt Switch against an unknown team is unsafe if a Ground switch-in is possible. Thunder Cage can trap targets and add residual damage, but its imperfect accuracy makes Thunderbolt preferable when trapping is unnecessary. Rapid Spin is useful for removing hazards and even raises Speed, although Regieleki is already so fast that the hazard removal is usually more important than the boost. Explosion should generally be excluded from a permadeath moveset because it deliberately causes Regieleki to faint; the species is safest when treated as a fragile high-speed attacker and pivot rather than a sacrificial utility Pokémon.

Regieleki Biology and Behavior

Regieleki is a golem-like Legendary composed largely of electrical energy generated by a single organ that effectively makes up its entire body. According to legend, Regigigas created it from pure electrical energy, and ancient people once worshipped it before becoming frightened by its power and sealing it inside the Split-Decision Ruins. The five blue rings around its body are made from insulating material and are theorized to have been installed by those ancient people specifically to restrain its output; removing them is said to release Regieleki's latent power. Regieleki survives by absorbing electrons and is described as capable of generating enough electricity to supply all of Galar. Its signature Thunder Cage reflects that physiology by surrounding opponents with a sustained cage of electrical energy that traps and damages them over time.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
