The Pokéathlon Dome is a major side-activity location in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, found in Johto near the National Park, where players enter teams of three Pokémon in athletic competitions rather than traditional battles. The facility features five Pokéathlon courses—Speed, Power, Skill, Stamina, and Jump—with a variety of minigames that test each Pokémon’s Pokéathlon stats. Competing successfully earns Athlete Points, which can be exchanged at the Athlete Shop for useful rewards including Apricorns, Rare Candies, evolution stones, and other items. Players can also use Aprijuice to improve Pokéathlon performance, track records, and take on additional challenges, making the Pokéathlon Dome one of the most distinctive optional activities in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
